My objective is to develop a thriving, small scale system that grows mushroom, chicken, fish, and plant cultures.
- The system is contained in a 3.65 cubic meter space. In cities, undeveloped areas, or arid regions, it can grow a diversity of food. It provisions opportunity for who do not have access to farmland. Parts and materials for the prototypes are purchased at hardware and pet stores.
- For those who wish to build a system for themselves, technical documentation and data collection (published on facebook.com, and www.chiros.net) will be presented, in the spirit of open-source, under a public license.
System concept evolves from pioneerings of Professor George Chan. In 1996, he designed and implemented a large-scale version of this system at the Montfort Boys Town, a school for disadvantaged boys in Suva, Fiji.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
- Safe and Inexpensive Removal of Chlorine/Sulfur compounds from Los Angeles City Water
- Tank Thermodynamics
- Hyper-oxygenated Plant Nutrient Systems
- Spawn Harvesting from Grocery Bought Crimini and Button Mushrooms
- Fast Nitrate Fixation in Aquaponics Systems
- Low Power Mechanical Filtration and Biodigestion of Chicken Scats
